  This is a fine local's hangout and we enjoyed making this our spot after long days of garden peeping and sightseeing. The food was delicious and hearty, the staff was more than accommodating, and they treated us with true warmth and friendship. I loved watching the cask ales being pumped, tried the cider, (yum,) and was drawn in by the patrons.The pub proprietess caught us up on all the local 'gos and made sure we ate our greens. A true home away from home.

  We stopped there for a lunch on Easter, 2 families with kids. The owner was rude, firstly providing low consideration to us when we arrived. Then we were refused tap water in a disrespectful manner. After my insisting, the owner even shouted at me his refusal. This is not only impolite but also illegal.

  We spent two nights in Castle Combe and made this our home base. This is where the locals hangout. A true English pub with good home cooking (go for the daily specials, the mushroom pepper pot, and the chicken - but the jacket potatoes rock, too) and good cider and beers. We had a blast with the owners and the staff and really loved this place. Can't wait to revisit it again on another trip to England - worth the stop (and escaping of the Manor House to hang here!!).

  Get into this pub on the way back to my hotel in Gloucester. All day driving and I felt I needed just a coffee to keep me awake. As one of the only place in town I get into this pub and I asked for a coffee to the "gentleman" behind the counter that replied with a really rude and sarcastic face and tone and laughing on my face: "Latte" . I could not understand what he meant with that and I asked again for my coffee and he replied again with the same answer "Latte".
  Not having a reason and an explanation, I accepted this "Latte" as probably he really would like to make me a latte art on it, but I finally could understand (it was enough explaining it) they had just a electric coffee machine for lattes and nothing else.
  Finished my wanted drink, and paid my bill I left the place with this words: "Thank you, have a nice evening!"
  And I received this answer "I can t say you the same"
  Really good hospitality right there... just to let you know... my day was really good.
